There are so many cities in the world and each one of them is different from the others. Every city is unique and is known for its arts, cultures and histories, others – for their architecture and iconic buildings, others are known for its natural wonders while some cities are known for their culinary expertise. There are vast numbers of beautiful cities in the world and I am happy to share 10 of them which I have visited in almost 20 countries.
10. Istanbul (Turkey)
The only city in the world that is located in two continents. Istanbul is a masterpiece of history and architecture. It showcases the Byzantines neo classical architecture – from the famous Blue Mosque to the finest Hagia Sofia which was originally an orthodox church turned to catholic church to a mosque later on and now a museum. It is also the land of the oldest palace in the world and the home of historical artifacts for Islam and Christianism . The Bosphorus bridge is one of its geological features as it connects the Asia side of the city to Europe. Istanbul is just simply incomparable.
9. Washington D.C. (United States of America)
America’s capital is extremely different from any other cities in the country. Probably one of the cleanest and safest cities in America. Home of the White House where the most powerful leader in the world resides. It has an impressive collections of historic monuments and museums that show how great America is.
8. Amsterdam (Netherlands)
‘Venice of the North’ as they say. This small city is packed with beautiful and charming canals which is declared a World Heritage in 2010. The small scale apartments, canals, museums, parks, people cycling around and the famous coffee shops make it one of the most visited cities in Europe. If you are up for fun and hassle-free life then Amsterdam may be the place for you!
7. Melbourne (Australia)
Melbourne is an impressive city. You wouldn’t think of anything when you hear Melbourne, would you? Unlike Sydney which has the Opera House. It has the work-life balance that gives the people opportunity to enjoy the place where they live. Beautiful parks, museums, market, outlet malls and plenty of good places where people hang out. Simply the ideal place to settle-down for some (including myself!).
6. Singapore (Singapore)
Asia’s favorite destination – the Lion City. Known for its very modern infrastructures, theme parks, good food (chilli crabs) and of course the cleanliness of the city. The city is compact – as the old saying goes “big things come in small packages” and that is Singapore.
5. Dubai (United Arab Emirates)
It aint just one of the most beautiful but also one of the fastest growing cities in the world. It is being called the city of superlatives! Dubai has a never-ending list of world’s top records which helps it attract millions of visitors every year.
4. Paris (France)
Paris has always been included in one of the most beautiful cities in the world and that is with no doubt. It serves as the capital city not only for France but also for arts, culture and love. When we think of Paris, it is the Eiffel Tower that strikes people’s mind but actually there are so many places and interesting things around – charming cobblestone streets, romantic restaurants or even Parisian people walking around. Be ready to fall in love when you visit Paris.
3. San Francisco (United States of America)
The scenic Golden Gate Bridge will welcome you as you enter the city. Following the lovely victorian homes lined up the streets of the ‘City by the Bay‘. The cable car that runs through the hilly streets, these are just few of many things that will make you fall in love with San Francisco. It is considered a gem of the United States of America.
2. New York City (United States of America)
New York is just New York. It is what you see in movies and it is what you hear in every song’s lyrics. Its cityscape is fascinating and is hard to find anywhere else in the world. It has defined the idea of what a modern city should be. With 8 million people living in New York, it sure is one of the busiest cities the world. Entertainment is definitely not a problem, it is in every corner of NYC. It is also the site of architectural evolution, from neo-classical to modern contemporary design.
1. Sydney (Australia)
As you can see in the picture above, Sydney is just ridiculously beautiful. Indeed the pride and jewel of Australia. The dramatic view of the Opera House facing the harbour bridge will leave you in awe. This city has a lot of spectacular views whatever the season is. It is a place where lifestyle and work can be enjoyed. The city has also a list of beautiful attractions and beaches – two of them are Bondi and Manly. Transportation could be done easily by bus, train or even ferry (Yes, residents use ferry to go to work). It has the right balance of how a city should be. It is also the home of beautiful and friendliest people in the planet!
