Chamonix Mont-Blanc: The Alps Experience

Chamonix Mont-Blanc, one of the oldest ski resorts in France and is heaven for ski lovers. It took me an hour and a half to reach this picturesque village coming from Geneva, Switzerland. The tour I bought in Viator was quite costly at $120 plus the cable car ride which costs additional 25-30 euros, but believe me it is worth the experience! Originally the planned was to try to ski here but after I injured my leg during a practice in Dubai, I realised that it takes time to learn it and it’s something that is not for everyone. Also, the time I came was not the ski season yet , so I just enjoyed the cool breezy air and the panoramic view of the french alps instead.

The Louvre Museum

It’s bigger than it seems! The Louvre Museum or Musée du Louvre in French is a large museum and one of the most visited attractions in Paris, France. Home of the famous artworks in the world such as Leonardo da Vinci’s The Mona Lisa, Venus the Milo, The Wedding at the Cana and thousands more! It was originally built as a fortress The Louvre Palace on the 12th century before it became a museum in the late 17th century to display artefacts all over the world. The architecture of the building will leave you in awe, rich in details and of course, history. The glass pyramid in front serves as the entrance which caused controversies as Parisians felt that it looked quite out-of-place in front of The Louvre with its classical design.

Only Lyon

After spending days in Paris, I headed to another city in east-central of France called Lyon – a small city with 400 thousand in population and about 400 kilometres from city of Paris. To go there, you need to take a train (SNCF) from Paris Gare De Lyon going to Lyon Part Dieu which costs €57 – it’s a bit pricey the time I purchased the ticket but you can get a lower price if you book ahead of time. The two hour train ride was also an extra-ordinary experience for me as it was my first train ride jumping from one city to another around Europe. I could’ve booked a flight going there but I chose to add another experience and cross an item in my bucket list which was really worth it! A view of green fields, vineyards and mountains!
